Whats all the hoop la about "chapstick"? Interestingly enough, "chapstick" is a brand of lip moisturizer or lip balm products, although everyone seems to think chapstick is what you are putting on your lips. I use lip moisturizers often to combat and prevent my chapped lips especially in the winter time or when I have a heavy lecture schedule. Although, I go to extreme lengths to keep my lips in good condition, it seems that the more lip products that I have used to prevent dryness have actually made my lips drier! I have used more than 1 product and different brands (Chapstick, Blistex, items from my brothers dresser), and have found no success. I have also paid for higher priced brands (Neutrogena, Bath & Body Works) and found that again there was no long term cure for my dry lips. What I have found that works best for me are the products made by Carmex, and a new product I discovered made by LypSyl, a Swedish company.
In comparison to Chapstick lip balms, LypSyl has a different container with a slide on the side so you push it up and down once you begin and finish (how neat)! The applicator area is also wider on the LypSyl container so when you put it on your lips you get maximum coverage. I love this feature, because everyone does not have the same sized lips! Lastly, the active ingredients in the Orignial Formula LypSyl tube that I purchased, far exceeded those of the Chapstick tube (I didnt purchase this one but I got the info from Chapstick's website) in healing properties. LypSyl uses natural products (cocount oil, beeswax, shea butter, etc) that promote healing and protection. Did I also mention that the tube had nice colours? So don't feel pressured to stay with those familiar brands of lip balm, try something new, you might just find you no longer have lipchap.
